HESSIAN CLOTH
Hessian is a woven fabric made from the skin of the jute plant. It is usually combined with other vegetable fibres to make rope, nets, and similar products. It is an exceptionally breathable product that resists condensation, and is durable enough to withstand rough handling.
Besides using it for fashion, art & furniture, this rough fabric has also found its way into other industries:
-
Construction Industry
It is used as a temporary protection as wet covering to prevent rapid moisture loss in setting of cement and concrete by the construction industry.
-
Shipping Industry
Hessian is often used to make sacks and bags to ship goods such as coffee beans; it is also used to transport unprocessed tobacco for the same reasons as it would be for coffee. As Hessian is quite tough & durable, these sacks can be used for upto three years.
-
Landscaping & Agriculture
Hessian is used to wrap the exposed roots of trees and shrubs when transplanting, and also for erosion control on steep slopes.
